How to Plan the Ultimate Staycation in Vancouver This Summer

  • July 29, 2020

Right now, as we continue to work towards flattening the curve of COVID-19, it’s more important than ever to stay local. But that doesn’t mean you need to completely forgo your wanderlust—in Vancouver, a city renowned for its natural amenities and west coast beauty, there are so many ways you can feel like you’re on a getaway right in your own beautiful backyard. Here’s how you can plan the ultimate staycation in the city.

Play Tourist

Sometimes, it can be easy to take for granted how truly beautiful Vancouver is, especially when you’ve lived here for a long time or grown up in and around the area. So, why not play tourist and hit some of the outdoor attractions that have made the city such a coveted destination? Walk across the death-defyingly high Capilano Suspension Bridge; rent a bicycle and cruise around the scenic Stanley Park Seawall; spend a gloriously sunny day lounging at a local lake, like Mystery Lake in North Vancouver or Murrin Lake Park in Squamish; or simply go for a drive up the Sea to Sky Highway and marvel at the breathtaking views of Howe Sound.

Splurge on a Nice Meal

Go out for dinner—somewhere you wouldn’t normally go. There are plenty of restaurants now open for dine-in service or that have expanded their outdoor seating, so you can enjoy the dining experience while safely socially distancing (our own Frankie’s Italian Kitchen and Bar is a great option, serving authentic Southern Italian cuisine). If you’d rather take-out, grab your food and have a picnic at a beach like English Bay or Spanish Banks while watching the sunset.

Book a Hotel Room

No staycation is complete without spending the night or the weekend in a hotel. Book your stay at the Georgian Court Hotel Vancouver for conveniently located, boutique accommodations right in the heart of downtown Vancouver. We have a wide variety of luxurious guest rooms, suites, and penthouses outfitted with inclusive in-room amenities including Nespresso® coffee machines, yoga mats, and Beekman 1802® bath products. And, best of all, BC residents are eligible for a special rate promotion. Get in touch with us for more details and to make your reservations.
